ABOUT:
Photography gives me the opportunity to study, analyze, and organize the world around me, to finally place it in a frame. Capturing places, subjects, moods, and moments as I perceived them in my thoughts, after I had ordered or restructured the scene in my mind. A kind of distillation of the scene through proportion, reduction, and perspective, by excluding, combining, or reordering elements. This allows me to express the essence that was important to me in that moment and how I felt it. I enjoy working with perspectives, shapes, textures, lines, and proportions.
I am inspired by art forms such as Minimalism, Cubism, and Abstract Painting, as well as Street Art. At the same time, I admire the works of classical masters.
Based in Luxembourg, I primarily work with analog large-format cameras on sheet film (from 8x10 to 4x5 inches) or with various film formats on 120 roll film. This allows me to compose precisely and realize my vision. Although I occasionally make prints in the darkroom, I mostly follow a hybrid approach: scanning the analog medium at high resolution to continue working digitally. At the same time, when the situation requires it, I rely on the flexibility and advantages of a digital camera or use analog 35mm as a balance to compose freely and let spontaneity inspire me.
