ARCHITECTURE ESCH-ALZETTE
This project is a tribute to Esch Alzette, a city in Luxembourg that holds a special place in my heart. The architectural diversity of the city is captured through 11 individual photographs, with each letter of “ESCH ALZETTE” representing a different architectural detail from a building in the city. This collection highlights the blend of historical, industrial, and modern architecture that defines Esch’s unique character.
For this series, I used a Pen F half-frame analog camera and adapted it to a large-format view camera to achieve precise perspective corrections. This allowed me to carefully compose each letter with the level of accuracy required for visual coherence. The use of film added a nostalgic quality to the images, while the filmstrip format helped create a continuous flow between the architectural elements.
The red tones in the photographs are symbolic of the Minett region, emphasizing the connection to the city’s industrial heritage.
This work was created for the Salon d’Auteurs 29, organized by the Photo-Club Esch , and was exhibited at the Theater Gallery in Esch from 21.09.2024 to 17.10.2024.
